Beware if you are in Seymour's wine bar having a drink in Derby

you may get a spooky visit from an old lady in grey

Seymour’s Wine Bar, situated near St Werburgh’s Churchyard, is well-known to be haunted by the spirit of an old lady dressed in grey. She is always seen in the upper regions of the building and sightings are frequently preceded by the smell of lavender which encompasses the room.

The area known as ‘Bake House’, also in the upper regions of the building, has been reported by staff to have a “watchful presence”. Many of the employees have been touched by unseen hands but have never felt in any danger.

Other strange happenings have taken place in the property. The most frequent is the moving of items by an unknown source. Cutlery is often moved around and placed in a different order and items have disappeared only to be found where they were originally left weeks later.

The nearby graveyard of St Werburgh’s Church is also allegedly haunted. A former worker at Seymour’s reported to have seen the figure of a man appear to walk through the wall into the building.
